If You Suspect An Underground Water Mains Leak Take Action Quickly

Has your water bill skyrocketed recently without using significantly extra water? Have specific areas of your garden become soggy? There is a very strong likelihood that you have an underground water mains leak, which needs to be resolved as a matter of urgency

Is A Water Mains Leak Not The Responsibility of The Water Company?

Many people are under the misconception that if there is a mains water leak, the problem of fixing it lies with the water company. Unfortunately, any pipework leaks within your property boundaries are the homeowner’s responsibility, regardless of whether or not the leak is coming from the water mains. Another worrying aspect of a mains water leak is that due to the higher water pressure and the volume of water that can leak in a relatively short period of time, it could be significantly higher than a traditional water leak within the home. However, because the water leak could be deep down in the ground, the first time that most people become aware of the issue is when their water bill increases exponentially.

How Does ADI Locate The Source of Your Underground Water Mains Leak?

ADI is the original specialist leak detection company in the United Kingdom. We identified the need for specialist leak detection years before anyone else recognised the niche. We have evolved as a company, as have our leak detection methodologies since our launch. While it is fair to say that you want to find the source of the leak as a priority, you also do not want unnecessary damage caused to your property or garden while searching for the leak. With the various methods that ADI employ, we can pinpoint the source of the leak within a couple of millimetres, enabling us to resolve the issue with the minimum of fuss, damage, or disruption.
ADI Leak Detection Team

We use a range of different tools and employ some of the most experienced engineers in the industry to find your leak. These include

Gas Tracing Devices:

Our engineers force a safe mixture of Hydrogen and Nitrogen into the pipework. The gas has a unique smell that our specialist machines are able to detect. In much the same way that the bubbles try to escape from a fizzy drink, the gas mixture will search for a way to escape the pipework. As soon as it finds a gap, however small, it will escape into the atmosphere, where our Gas Tracing devices will immediately alert us. This is one of the most popular methods we use due to its safety, efficiency and reliability.

Acoustic Listening Devices

If the pipework is buried particularly deep in the ground, in an area where we feel is too challenging for either our Gas Tracer systems or the thermal imaging cameras, then another tactic we can employ is our acoustic listening devices. Sound travels over a significantly larger distance than sight, which is why acoustic listening devices are a good option for deeply buried pipes. Our Acoustic Listening Devices can trace the sound of any leaks up to a distance of 2.5 metres.

Our ADI Engineers have years of experience and knowledge within the industry. They have successfully located thousands of water mains leaks, the length and breadth of the country, and we are confident that we can replicate this success with your water leak.
